The beating heart of enchanting Venice is once again preparing to host one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year.
From Saturday, May 9 to Sunday, November 22, 2026, a magical encounter between art and history comes to life: the Venice Biennale. Once again, the stunning setting for one of the world’s most important cultural events will be the Venetian Gardens and the Arsenale.
We suggest that all our campsite guests spend at least one day at this extraordinary and unique event, and immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere that only the Biennale offers.
The Venice Biennale is a renowned international cultural event held annually in Venice.
Founded in 1895 from an idea by Riccardo Selvatico, then mayor of Venice, the Biennale hosts—depending on the year—exhibitions of contemporary art, architecture, dance, music, theatre and cinema, attracting artists, critics and enthusiasts from all over the world. Over the years, it has welcomed some of the most significant figures of the past centuries, including Picasso, Dalí, Pollock, Fontana, Abramović and many others.
Today, 131 years after its first edition, the Biennale is considered one of the most important and prestigious cultural events in the world.
The 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, titled In Minor Keys, is based on a curatorial project by Koyo Kouoh, who was appointed Artistic Director of the Visual Arts Sector in November 2024 and passed away prematurely in May 2025. The Biennale has chosen to realise the exhibition following the plan she had already defined, with the aim of preserving her vision and bringing to completion the work she began with the artists.
The exhibition unfolds as a journey shaped by a strong spiritual and relational dimension, in which art becomes a tool for re-establishing a more authentic relationship with life, with others and with the world. In this sense, In Minor Keys invites us to reflect on the centrality of the individual and our relationship with the earth, offering a more mindful and conscious perspective on how we inhabit the present.
“The joy of authentic art, which so closely resembles real life,” commented Biennale President Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, capturing the essence of the exhibition envisioned by Kouoh.
The project is not divided into rigid sections, but unfolds through a network of themes and relationships that bring artworks, practices and artistic visions into dialogue with one another. Themes such as enchantment, fertility and sharing run throughout the exhibition, alongside artistic practices oriented toward collective dimension and the creation of new forms of relationship between artists, communities and diverse cultural contexts.
The exhibition brings together 111 participants, including artists, collectives and organizations from different geographical backgrounds. Rather than offering a simple map of contemporary art, the project aims to build a relational geography, based on the encounter between experiences, sensibilities and paths that may be very distant from one another.
Within this network of relationships, several central themes emerge that guide the exhibition path. Among them is Are (“Shrines”), conceived as a tribute to Issa Samb and Beverly Buchanan, two fundamental figures in Koyo Kouoh’s vision. Their artistic practices are deeply connected to places and communities, reflecting an idea of art capable of engaging with memory and the social dimension.
Another important element is the motif of the procession, inspired by carnival choreographies and gatherings from the Afro-Atlantic world. From this perspective, the exhibition space takes on a dynamic character: visitors are invited to follow the movement of the works and actively participate in the experience, rather than observe it passively.
Alongside these elements, the “Schools” also emerge, understood as communities of learning and exchange based on encounter and sharing, together with a dimension of rest and contemplation that runs throughout the entire exhibition path.
Immersive and multisensory installations invite visitors to slow down, transforming the visit into an experience of listening and reflection, capable of restoring a more attentive and mindful relationship with the world.
This year, the Biennale runs for approximately six months, from May 9 to November 22, 2026.
Tickets, which can be purchased directly online on the official Biennale website, cost €30 (Early Bird rate) and include entry to both exhibition venues, the Arsenale and the Giardini, which can also be visited on different days (the ticket is valid for 3 consecutive days).
But that’s not all: Early Bird passes valid for the whole exhibition are also available (€60 instead of €80, or €30 for students and under-26s). Furthermore, for those wishing to explore the exhibition further, guided tours at set times are available at a cost of €8 per venue.
In addition to the 99 National Participations, the Biennale features 31 collateral events taking place across Venice, offering a wide range of contributions that highlight the diversity of voices represented at the event.
