The Forts of Cavallino: History Along the Coast
The fortifications of Cavallino-Treporti recount the military history of the Venetian coast. Among the best known are the Vettor Pisani Battery, the Amalfi Battery and the Radaelli Battery, along with the telemetric towers dotted across the area. These are fascinating places to visit during a walk or a cycle ride, amidst pine forests, beaches and the lagoon.
Treporti and Saccagnana
The centre of Treporti is nestled amongst canals and water basins. Here you’ll find the Church of the Holy Trinity and the two bell towers, distinctive features of the local landscape. Lio Piccolo is a small rural village in the heart of the lagoon. It is reached via a scenic road that winds through salt marshes, canals and farmland: a route particularly well-suited to cycling. Getting around
By bike
Cavallino-Treporti is criss-crossed by a network of cycle paths linking the sea, the lagoon, the villages and local amenities. One of the most popular routes is the one along Via Pordelio, which overlooks the lagoon. Bicycles can also be hired at the campsite.
By public transport
Buses connect the various areas of Cavallino-Treporti and take you to Jesolo. From Punta Sabbioni, meanwhile, water buses depart for Venice’s historic centre and the islands of the lagoon.
