What to see:

  • Basilica Palladiana - Piazza dei Signori. At one time seat of the public magistrate of Vicenza, today the building (world patrimony of the UNESCO) holds architectural and art exhibitions
  • Palazzo Chiericati, designed by Palladio and seat of the Civic Museum, holds paintings and sculptures (XIII – XIX century) of Montagna,Veronese, Tintoretto, Bassano, Maffei, Carpioni, Pittoni, Piazzetta, Tiepolo and others
  • Teatro Olimpico, the last project of Palladio started in 1580, is the first example of a covered theatre of modern age. Scamozzi drew the scene lignee, which have a great illusionistic prospective and a big sense for details, which can be still admired today
  • Corso Fogazzaro, the main road, artistic and commercial of the historic center
  • Villa Almerico Capra di Valmarana, called "la Rotonda": the most famous and most reproduced work of Andrea Palladio
  • Villa Valmarana “Ai Nani”, with the interior frescos of Giambattista Tiepolo, characterized by stone sculptures which represent dwarfs, once scattered all over the park, today lined up on the boundary wall
  • Galleries of Palazzo Leoni Montanari, which holds a permanent collection of Russian icons and a collection on the Venetian ‘700 and other temporary exhibitions.



  • Bassano del Grappa with the wooden bridge over the Brenta river, war zone during the first world war, world capital of the ‘black feathers’ (mountaineers) and also famous for its grappa
  • Marostica, fortified city in which, on even years, the famous chess games with living people are held on the city square.
