Water, wood and stone
Let yourself be transported on an enchanted journey between the islands of Burano and Mazzorbo, where time seems to have stopped. We will walk through a rainbow of houses that are reflected in the silent canals, immersing ourselves in a fairytale atmosphere.
Our journey will begin at the lively vaporetto pier in Burano, from where we will walk among the picturesque and colourful houses that characterise the island. We will explore the heart of Burano, tracing the history of this place that played a fundamental role in the formation of Venetian culture. We will discover the ancient traditions that animate the island, from the art of lace to fishing, by visiting symbolic places such as the old fish market and the historic shipyards.
We will then go to Mazzorbo, an island with an agricultural soul often neglected in favour of the sparkling Burano, but of great historical importance and strongly linked to Venice.
Here we will explore the historical events of the northern lagoon, from the flight of the Venetian populations from the interior to the golden age of Mazzorbo, a flourishing commercial and residential centre that, in the Middle Ages, was surpassed only by Torcello, forming a fundamental island triangle at the origin of the history of Venice.
